The 1000-Mile Double Handed Race 2017
Will be the most challenging race of the northernmost North Sea. This rugged competition combines long-distant sailing with serious competitive racing. If you love a good challenge – and want a great excuse for a wild vacation – register now.
Objective and concept
The event is intended to promote all aspects of sailing and racing with shorthanded crews and to provide a qualifier (Leg 1) and training course as well as a stepping stone for long-distance shorthanded races like OSTAR, RB&I Race, Fastnet, AZAB, etc.
The 1000-Mile Doublehanded 2016 consists of three legs. From The Netherlands to Norway, then to Shetland Isles and finishes in Norway (NED).
Who can participate?
All experienced sailors seeking serious short-handed sailing competition. Your boat must be 27ft (LOA) or more and manned by two people. At least one crewmember must complete the entire race.
Skills, thrills – and fun
We’re not just in this to tackle the elements – we also want to enjoy the company of our fellow sailors. So we designed the 1000-Mile Doublehanded with fleet restarts at the beginning of each leg, so all competitors, be they fast or not-so-fast, stay together and enjoy the fun at every stopover.
